Report: Manchester City Turned Down Opportunity to Sign PSG Star

The summer transfer window is closed, and the stories regarding the moves that failed to occur are coming out. Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar Jr. was rumored to be available for the right price.

On Friday, the Spanish publication Marca reported that Manchester City was the club PSG believed Neymar could head to this summer. Still, the Premier League champions turned down the opportunity to sign him.

Manchester City had already spent big money when the English side signed Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund and had no plans to sign the Brazilian. As a result, they turned down PSG’s proposal, so Neymar continued at the Parc des Princes, which isn’t bad.

Neymar has gotten off to a hot start in Ligue 1 this season, scoring seven goals and recording six assists in five matches. The 30-year-old hopes the excellent league start will translate to the UEFA Champions League when PSG welcomes Juventus on Sept. 6.

  1. City don’t sign egos. Nor do we sign ageing players. I guess PSG confused us with our out of town neighbours, who LOVE to spend a fortune on egos on their way down.
