For most of 2022, the hot topic in football was the future of Kylian Mbappé, whose contract was expiring in June, and he needed to make a decision. The 23-year-old had two choices: Join Real Madrid or extend with Paris Saint-Germain.
After many rumors, Mbappé opted to extend his contract with the capital club and remain in his hometown. The France international is under contract until 2025, but that doesn’t mean the Real Madrid rumors go away.
In an interview with The New York Times’ Tariq Panja, the journalist asked the PSG star about the possibility of heading to join Los Blancos down the road when his contract expires with the French giants.
“You never know what’s going to happen,” Mbappé said. “You’ve never been there, but it seems like it’s like your house, or something like this.”
As of now, Mbappé has three years with his hometown club, and should the Ligue 1 side win the UEFA Champions League in that time; the French star will begin to look at challenges abroad.
Nonetheless, the task is to do what no other player has done: bring Europe’s top club football trophy home to Paris.
