PSG Star Defender Discusses ‘Complicated’ Matchup Against Juventus

On Tuesday, Paris Saint-Germain will begin its UEFA Champions League campaign with Juventus as their Matchday 1 opponent to kick off Group H play.

Ahead of their matchup against the Serie A side, the capital club faced off against FC Nantes, where PSG defeated their Ligue 1 rival 3-0. Following the victory, Presnel Kimpembe spoke about their upcoming matchup.

“Juve? It’s going to be a very complicated game,” Kimpembe said (h/t Canal Supporters). “We know Juventus. It’s still a great team.

“Afterward, we know that it is the Champions League, that it is played out in detail. We will have to be concentrated and well prepared to tackle this match well.”

PSG will be judged by what they do in the Champions League, and manager Christophe Galtier is going to have to show that he’s capable of coaching in Europe’s top competition.

“Judged on the Champions League? The season is long,” Kimpembe added. “We are competitors. We play match after match. We try to do what it takes to be as efficient as possible.”

Additionally, the French giants are heading into Group H as the favorites, so they’ll have pressure to finish first against a Juventus team that’s a bit older and a Benfica side that sold their top player from last season, Darwin Núñez, to Liverpool.

With new players and management, PSG hopes that this run in Europe can be successful by the end of the 2021-22 season.
