PSG ‘Always’ Had an Interest in Manchester United Star, Fabrizio Romano Claims

Paris Saint-Germain was in the mix for a forward this summer after adding Hugo Ekitike from Stade de Reims. One of the players linked to the capital club was Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford.

The 24-year-old’s representatives reportedly had discussions with the French giants. Now that the summer transfer window is over, Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano provided details about what occurred.

Romano can confirm that PSG was interested in Rashford, but the file was never particularly advanced that a move would have occurred between the two clubs.

“Despite some claims to the contrary, Tottenham have never approached Rashford this summer,” Romano said in the latest edition of his exclusive CaughtOffside column.

“PSG have always had an interest in the player, but there has never been an official offer. Rashford’s current contract expires in 2023, but Man United are relaxed because they have an option to extend the contract for another year until 2024, so more on that later.”

Last season, Rashford struggled to hit top form for Manchester United, so these rumors might not have come as a surprise, especially with a new manager in Erik ten Hag now in the mix.

However, talks about a possible departure might have lit a fire under Rashford as the England international has three goals and two assists in six matches to show ten Hag he’s part of the future.
