Lionel Messi has not been scoring goals at a world-class rate in the calendar year, but he has rather been quite an unselfish playmaker.

Messi sits at 17 assists recorded in Ligue 1 play so far in the year, including five assists logged in his last three league appearances. Overall, Messi needs a mere three assists to set a new personal record for the most league assists recorded in a calendar year.

Messi and PSG will return to Ligue 1 play on matchday eight with an away clash against Olympique Lyonnais.
