Paris Saint-Germain manager Christophe Galtier has so far rolled out a three-at-the-back system this season. It has been so far, so good for PSG in this system, as the side stands undefeated in all competitions.

For Marquinhos, as he touched on (via L’Equipe) during a pre-match press conference ahead of PSG’s UEFA Champions League away group stage fixture against Maccabi Haifa, he sees that the team continues to adapt well to Galtier’s early season tactical change.

“It’s true that we’ve been used to playing here in a two-center defense in a line of four, but I also feel comfortable in this three-man defense,” Marquinhos said. “The team is adapting to it very well. It took some time for everyone, even for me, to adapt to the coach’s demands so that we could work well little by little, game after game.

“I think we are evolving well and I really enjoy playing in this three-man defense, sometimes with five. It’s a real job to play in this system because we are a very offensive team even if we have a 3-man defense. We can really exploit our strong points while being more secure on our weak points. The results, the games and the performances are showing that we are going in the right direction.”

Barring any major change, Marquinhos is set to tag along with Sergio Ramos to guide PSG’s three-at-the-back setup tomorrow. The Brazilian defender has opened up the new season on a promising note, especially as PSG has so far only allowed five goals scored in all competitions.
