Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappé was vital in helping the France national team open the scoring against Austria after a scoreless first half on Thursday.
The 23-year-old has been referred to as the undisputed leader of Les Bleus by some pundits, and Manchester United defender Raphaël Varane is singing the praises of the PSG star due to what he brings to their attack.
“He’s a player who can turn the game around,” Varane told the French media outlet. “He’s always dangerous for the opponent with his acceleration. We’re, of course, very happy to have a player of this talent in our team.”
Unlike in 2018, when Mbappé was a piece of the France national team attack, the PSG star will be the engine of the team heading into the 2022 FIFA World Cup, especially if Karim Benzema isn’t at 100 percent when the tournament starts in late November.
Mbappé will hope to have a great tournament as the last international tournament was UEFA Euro 2020, where the PSG star missed a penalty kick against Switzerland, leading to France’s elimination.
