Paris Saint-Germain took home all three points from its UEFA Champions League home group stage fixture against Juventus, as it clinched a 2-1 victory on matchday one. PSG received a double from Kylian Mbappe on the day.

From PSG manager Christophe Galtier’s standpoint, it was not a flawless performance from his side against Juventus. For one, as he touched on after the match (via PSG TV), the reigning Ligue 1 champions simply gave away goal-scoring opportunities to Juventus in the contest.

“We gave chances away, our defenders were heroic in the final meters of the pitch to prevent us from conceding a second goal,” Galtier said. “I think that on the whole, the win was deserved.”

Juventus tallied 13 total shots against the Ligue 1 powerhouse, with 10 of them coming inside the box. Even as the likes of Dusan Vlahovic and Filip Kostic had key goal-scoring opportunities in the match, the Serie A side settled for the mere one goal scored.

For now, PSG will return to Champions League action next week with an away group stage fixture against Israeli side Maccabi Haifa.
