On Tuesday, L’Equipe revealed the details of Kylian Mbappé’s contract which the shocking news is that the deal isn’t until 2025, as many believed; well, it is, and it isn’t.
RMC Sport’s Fabrice Hawkins confirmed the reporting on Tuesday’s edition of the “Super Moscato Show” (h/t Paris Fans). Hawkins revealed that PSG formalized the extension of its player until June 2025.
But in the details of his contract, the 23-year-old extended for two seasons, and the third year is optional. Furthermore, Mbappé would be the only one who can decide whether or not to exercise this option.
Hawkins continues by saying that Mbappé wants a strong place in the PSG project and has his sights set on the 2024 Olympic Games, which will take place in Paris and where he wishes to participate.
For those who follow the NBA, it’s similar contracts to that star players such as LeBron James, Kevin Durant, etc., which is to sign short-term deals that allow them to opt out if the player doesn’t feel the franchise isn’t building a team to contend for championships.
