Renato Sanches Opens Up on Reuniting With Galtier at PSG

It took a while, but Paris Saint-Germain officially announced on Thursday the permanent transfer signing of midfielder Renato Sanches from Lille OSC. PSG signed the versatile Portuguese midfielder on a five-year contract deal.

Sanches is set to reunite with PSG manager Christophe Galtier. The midfielder played under Galtier for all three seasons of his run at Lille OSC, where he emerged as a reliable midfielder for the Ligue 1 side.

Speaking to PSG TV after the transfer move was announced, Sanches touched on now reuniting with Galtier.

“I know him well,” Sanches said. “He’s a good coach who helped me improve a lot after I came into Ligue 1. Together, we even managed to win the league with Lille. We worked well together, and I’m happy to be working with him again, as well as with his coaching staff.

“Working with a manager that you know always makes things easier. The communication between you is simpler.”

It remains to be seen on just how Galtier will get the best out of Sanches at PSG. Both Marco Verratti and Vitinha are slated to be the regular starters for PSG in the middle of the park, so Sanches may end up being a go-to option for the French manager off of the bench over the course of the upcoming Ligue 1 campaign.
