PSG Reportedly Offering Veteran Striker to Newcastle United

Mauro Icardi has no future in the French capital, and Paris Saint-Germain is attempting its best to offload the Argentine striker before the summer transfer window closes on Sept. 1.

Over the last few weeks, the 29-year-old has been linked to various clubs; however, no deal has occurred. Although there are some takers on the striker, it isn’t stopping PSG from offering the player to other teams.

Transfer window specialist Fabrizio Romano reported (via Shields Gazette) that the current Ligue 1 champions have offered Icardi to Newcastle United.

“I’ve written about Mauro Icardi being offered to Manchester United, and also Arsenal earlier in the summer, though they preferred to sign Gabriel Jesus,” Romano wrote. “I can now reveal that the Argentine also been offered to Newcastle.”

Icardi has been linked to Turkish giants Galatasaray, Fenerbahçe, and Manchester United. So there is a market for the player, despite his struggles in the French capital to replace Edison Cavani.

Nonetheless, the Argentine goal scorer appears to be better off in a club where the expectation isn’t to win everything, including the UEFA Champions League.

With time running out, it will be interesting to see if PSG can move on from Icardi, or perhaps they’ll be stuck with him until the winter transfer window.
