‘I’m Happy’ – PSG’s Sergio Ramos Discusses Emotions of Winning Trophée des Champions

Paris Saint-Germain secured their first trophy of the 2022-23 season on Sunday when the capital club defeated FC Nantes 4-0 in the Trophée des Champions.

Lionel Messi opened the scoring for the French giants; Neymar Jr. scored a brace for the current Ligue 1 champions, but one of the other goal scorers was Sergio Ramos. The 35-year-old defender scored on an impressive backheel to make it 3-0.

Following the win, Ramos spoke with Prime Video (via Canal Supporters), where he discussed a couple of topics, including one where the former Real Madrid captain was asked about the squad being happy and enjoying being out on the pitch following their convincing win over Nantes.

“Yes, yes, I’m happy to be here,” Ramos told the broadcast after the victory. “It was the first official game of the season. We must continue to consolidate and play our system well. At the collective level, we played well, we were high, and we held the ball.”

“We also communicated well defensively. We must continue to improve during the season, but I am very happy with this first title, and we must continue like this.”

Ramos and PSG hope this preseason form trickles over into the 2022-23 season as they transition from Mauricio Pochettino to Christophe Galtier at the manager position. Les Parisiens opens up the Ligue 1 campaign on the road at the Gabriel Montpied Stadium against Clermont Foot.
