Former PSG Gaffer Says Lionel Messi Still Best Player Football Over Kylian Mbappé

Former Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino is a few weeks removed since his sacking, resulting in the capital club appointing Christophe Galtier as his successor.

Pochettino had a lengthy interview with Infobae (via AS), where he discussed various topics about his time in the French capital. One of the questions that the Argentine tactician answered was about coaching the trio of Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé, and Neymar Jr.

The media outlet asked to compare Messi and Mbappé, as the 23-year-old pushes for the title of the best player in the world. However, the 50-year-old isn’t ready to anoint the France international as the top talent in the sport.

“Messi is the best footballer in the world,” Pochettino said to the media outlet. “There is no doubt. Afterward, it is clear that Mbappé is a candidate to be able to receive that crown. There is Neymar, who, for me, is also one of the best players in the world.”

At 35 years old, Messi isn’t long for the conversation of being the best player in the world, and Mbappé has the opportunity this year to continue to take his stake as the top player in football. The opportunity is there with a new contract and the FIFA World Cup on the horizon.
