When Paris Saint-Germain drew Juventus in Group H, there was excitement considering it would mark the return of Ángel Di María to the Parc des Princes.
However, when the schedule was published, the meeting between the two heavyweights meeting on Sept. 6 in the French capital, there was some concern the 34-year-old wouldn’t be fit for the matchup.
Di María suffered a low-grade lesion of the adductor longus muscle of the left thigh on Aug. 15 in Juventus’ 3-0 win against Sassuolo.
After being out for ten days, manager Massimiliano Allegri told reporters (h/t Hadrien Grenier) he could get minutes in their Wednesday matchup when Spezia travels to Turin.
Furthermore, the Italian tactician stated that Di María should be present at the Parc des Princes next week for Matchday 1 of the UEFA Champions League. No further information on whether the veteran winger would be in consideration to start or they’ll ease him back with minutes off the bench.
