The first summer signing for Paris Saint-Germain in the Luis Campos era as the sporting advisor is Vitinha, who arrived from FC Porto to help strengthen the midfield in the French capital.
Ahead of his first season with the reigning Ligue 1 champions, the 22-year-old spoke with RMC Sport regarding many topics, one being playing alongside Kylian Mbappe and his new teammate motivates him since they’re the same age.
Vitinha stated to the French media outlet that he hopes to aspire to the level Mbappe already has this early in his career.
“He inspires me,” Vitinha said. “I want to reach his level. He has an incredible level, one of the best in the world. I will do everything to reach that level. I’m in the best club to do it. But it takes a lot of work to do it. With hard work, help from the team, and myself, I can do it. It is through this prism that I see it, as inspiration, it is to reach the level which is his.”
One of the other topics was how the Portuguese current and past have offered to help him settle in the French capital. Vitinha stated that PSG legend Pauleta called him about the club, and current players Danilo and Nuno Mendes are lending him a helping hand to ensure he has everything he needs in his adaptation ahead of the 2022-23 season.
“I can tell you that Pauleta called me. It was incredible, he was very friendly. He offered to help me with anything I needed,” Vitinha said.
“And of course I also spoke with my teammates, Danilo and Nuno Mendes. And we will certainly talk to each other more, for questions related to the house, the car, all that… They are there to help me and they have been great with me, so far.”
