Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar Jr. has seen his name linked to a move away from the French capital, but this past week it seems as though those rumors have died down after running wild for a time.
In an interview with L’Equipe, manager Christophe Galtier spoke about the future of the Brazil international. He again stated that the 30-year-old is someone that they want to move forward with this season.
Furthermore, Galtier even spoke about where he views Neymar playing in his tactical system for the upcoming season.
“Yes, I was clear. Afterward, I repeat, in this area of expertise, there are many things that I cannot master. I will adapt to the squad I have; I want it as much as possible. We have to reduce it, but I want it as much as possible,” Galtier said.
“What will Neymar’s role be? I know where Neymar can be comfortable, whether it’s a little higher off the hook or in front of two midfielders; Neymar, like Leo (Messi), they are facilitators, players who have this ability to be found between the lines and to be decisive.”
Despite the reports, Neymar will likely stay with PSG past this summer transfer window, and it appears the forward is motivated to have one of his better seasons with the capital club since arriving in 2017.
With the World Cup in November and his eyes on winning the UEFA Champions League with the French giants, this 2022-23 campaign could be memorable for Neymar if he reaches these two goals.
