It’s been a couple of weeks since Leonardo exited as the sporting director of Paris Saint-Germain, and despite a disastrous second tenure, the Brazilian club chief might not be out of work for long.

This past week, Leonardo was reported as a possible candidate for the sporting director position at Valencia. The Spanish club has appointed Gennaro Gattuso as their new manager; now, they need to find someone who can work with the Italian tactician.

According to Super Deporte, Leonardo is the favorite to land the role for his former club, where he played from 1991 to 1994. Furthermore, the report states that the executive has a good relationship with owner Peter Lim also places him in the lead for the job.

If Leonardo becomes Valencia’s sports director, he will take the reins of a team with a lot of work to do and many players to move out as he begins his new era with the La Liga side.

At Valencia, he will be tasked with selling key players to balance the books and the enormous challenge of covering the holes left by the departures with budgets that are in the red.
