Lionel Messi was on top of his game during the Argentina national team’s 5-0 international friendly win over Estonia on Sunday. Messi tagged along with Julian Alvarez and Joaquin Correa upfront in the contest, and he went on to score five goals in the match.

After the result, Messi took to Instagram where he reflected on not only Argentina’s keen victory against Estonia but also the 2022 Finalissma triumph over the Italian national team.

“We could not have closed the season better,” Messi said. “We won the Finalissima and today we got more minutes preparing for the World Cup. Thanks again to everyone who came to the field and to those who follow us from afar. We are going to rest for a few days and we will be back very soon! Hugs to everyone!”

Messi is now set to earn a much-needed break after featuring for both Paris Saint-Germain and Argentina this past season. He had his fair share of struggles in consistently finding the back of the net over the course of the campaign, but at the least, he continued to enjoy formidable success as a playmaker.

The next time that Messi may see the pitch could be PSG’s 2022 Trophee des Champions Final against Nantes on July 31.
