When Paris Saint-Germain inked Kylian Mbappe to a new contract, they did so, knowing that the 23-year-old would be having some influence in the squad. The France international wanted to change before committing more years, and it seems as though the capital club is obliging.
In an interview with talkSPORT, ESPN journalist Julien Laurens spoke about the influence that Mbappe might have with his new contract. Laurens added that the way sporting director Leonardo was sacked is one aspect of the forward using his new power.
“Well, I’ll tell you, so he signed the new contract, I think in the afternoon on Saturday, like maybe 04:00, 05:00, at 11:00 Leonardo the sporting director is sacked because Kylian didn’t like him. They couldn’t work with each other,” Laurens said.
“And then Luis Campos, who is the former, if you remember, sporting director Monaco, Lille, very highly respected, amazing eye for scouting, data, all of that who worked with Kylian and Monaco, which is the name that Kylian put forth in Paris, is arriving as a sporting director. So he will have a lot of weight in what he says.”
