Paris Saint-Germain’s upcoming Ligue 1 home fixture against Metz will be Angel Di Maria’s final match with the club. PSG officially announced on Friday that the Argentine playmaker will leave the club at the end of the season as a free agent.
In speaking during a pre-match press conference for the clash with Metz, PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino touched on Di Maria’s legacy with the reigning Ligue 1 champions.
“Angel is for me an exceptional player, with an incredible career, who in seven years has achieved great things at PSG, one of the best in the history of the club,” Pochettino said.
Since joining PSG from Manchester United in 2015, the Argentine has established his place as one of the greatest players to ever feature for the Ligue 1 powerhouse. From the trophies won in four different competitions to being the club’s all-time leader in assists, he has left quite a mark at PSG.
Overall, Di Maria has so far recorded 10 goal contributions in Ligue 1 play this season with four goals and six assists.
