Bernat Reacts to Pochettino’s Major Tactical Change in Recent Matches

As of late, Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino has opted to roll out his team under a three-at-the-back setup. This formation change has had mixed results, from PSG scoring a combined seven goals in its last three matches to the second half collapse against Strasbourg.

For PSG full-back Juan Bernat, he is fine playing under any tactical setup, although he does see plenty of positives with this change made by the Argentine manager.

“In the last few games we have played with this system with three central defenders and a few players,” Bernat told Prime Video Sport France following PSG’s match against Strasbourg. “We are comfortable with all systems. With three central defenders, it gives more space to the players in the corridors. It gives us the possibility to attack more. But we’re comfortable with both systems.”

In PSG’s 3-3 draw result against Strasbourg, both Neymar and Kylian Mbappe shined in the contest. The Brazilian forward created four total goal-scoring chances, while the French international chipped in with three total goal contributions. On the other hand, Messi was not necessarily much involved from an attacking standpoint while in the final third.

It will be noteworthy to see whether Pochettino plans to keep this formation switch for the rest of PSG’s league fixtures this season.
