Deschamps Reacts to Mbappe’s Overall Performance for France Against South Africa

Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe was the star of the show in the France national team’s international friendly win over South Africa. Mbappe scored a pair of goals in the contest, as Les Bleus cruised to a 5-0 victory.

For French national team manager Didier Deschamps, this performance from Mbappe is far from a surprise, as he touched on in his post-match press conference (via L’Equipe).

“I can’t say anything else,” Deschamps said. “I told you he was radiant. That was the reality. His legs were on fire. He would have loved to have played the first game on Friday. His ability to accelerate and score, that puts him in the category of a standout player. But he also has the intelligence to be part of a collective on and off the field.”

This double from Mbappe against South Africa was his first such showing since Paris Saint-Germain’s Ligue 1 home win over AS Saint-Etienne in late February, when he scored twice in the 3-1 victory.

The international break has now come to an end for Mbappe. He will now return to PSG for the remainder of the Ligue 1 season. He is slated to feature for the side in its upcoming home league encounter against Lorient.
