Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, UEFA decided to pull the Champions League final from Saint Petersburg, which was supposed to host the fixture on May 28th.
Europe’s governing body decided to move the game to Paris at the Stade de France, which will host the game for the first time since 2006. During his news conference with the media, Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino was asked about being more motivated now that the final is in their home city.
“It’s an extra motivation; there is great excitement. We have already taken part in a Champions League final, and that is something extraordinary. But there is a lot of work ahead of us to get there,” Pochettino said.
