Argentine forward Lionel Messi has lauded his growing on-field chemistry with Kylian Mbappe at Paris Saint-Germain.
Messi took some time to speak to PSG Le Mag, where he opened up on what it has been like to tag along with Mbappe.
“Well, I already know Di Maria and Ney from the national team and Ney in the past at Barcelona we played together,” Messi said. “Kylian I did not know him on or off the field. And well, little by little we are getting to know each other much better and above all getting to know each other on the field to see how comfortable we feel with each other.
“And obviously it is very nice to be on the field with the best. I was lucky enough to do it for a long time at Barcelona … and now it is my turn to do it at Paris as well. So I am happy.”
Messi and Mbappe have continued to develop their chemistry at PSG so far this season. The two have assisted each other for key goals and have also created a multitude of pivotal goal-scoring chances for another.
Next up for the two star forwards will be a pair of Ligue 1 fixtures against both AS Saint-Etienne and OGC Nice. After that, the two will lead PSG in the return leg of its UEFA Champions League round of 16 tie against Real Madrid. Overall, they have combined for 10 goals scored in the competition so far this season, which include the Frenchman’s game-winning goal in the round of 16 first leg against the La Liga side.
