Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar has so far much enjoyed the opportunity to once again tag along with Lionel Messi.

Neymar recently took some time to speak to longtime Brazilian forward Ronaldo on his  “Fenomenos Podcast” show, where he noted that he did aim to reunite with Messi at Barcelona in 2020 but is now much pleased to play alongside him at PSG.

“We’re really good friends, Leo and me,” Neymar said. “Ever since Barcelona, we’ve built this friendship, a very strong one. So we started talking about playing together again last year, I mean, the year before that. I tried getting back to Barcelona. We tried everything, but it didn’t work out.

“Then he got the chance of coming here and we were able to get him. I’m thrilled that he’s here today. He’s a friend that football has given me. We get along really well, both on and off the field. Now we’re hoping to make history here in Paris Saint-Germain. We’ll see what the future holds. We’re working very hard.”

Both Neymar and Messi have so far not had the opportunity to share the pitch much over the ongoing season, especially as the Brazilian forward missed time due to a notable ankle injury. However, the two have shined together when on the pitch, which includes the Argentine’s recent assist to the Brazilian in PSG’s Ligue 1 away fixture against Nantes.

It will be noteworthy to see whether PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino will opt to feature both Messi and Neymar in the side’s upcoming league encounter with AS Saint-Etienne.
