New Report Reveals When Messi Could Make a Return to Action for PSG

Argentine forward Lionel Messi will miss his second consecutive fixture of the calendar year, as Paris Saint-Germain has officially ruled him out for the upcoming Ligue 1 away fixture against Olympique Lyonnais.

Messi tested positive for COVID-19 over the Christmas break. While he was later cleared to return to the Camp des Loges, he has only been taking part in individual training sessions, as the forward was not a full participant in the team’s collective sessions ahead of the match.

As noted by TyC Sports, Messi could end up returning to action in PSG’s Ligue 1 fixture against Brest, which will come on Jan. 15.

PSG will look to also soon get back several other players who have been sidelined as of late due to COVID-19, including midfielder Angel Di Maria and goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.

For now, PSG may call upon the forwards Kylian Mbappe and Mauro Icardi to help lead the way against a Lyon side that currently sits at 13th place in the league standings.
