Even as Paris Saint-Germain forward Lionel Messi is near the backend of his prime, he still has been performing like one of the more potent playmakers in world football.
Overall, Messi has been quite a reliable playmaker for PSG in Ligue 1 play so far in the ongoing campaign, as he has tallied for four assists to go along with a 2.2 key passes per match average.
More so, Messi has recorded 47 assists in league play since the 2018-2019 campaign. As noted by Opta, only Bayern Munich playmaker Thomas Muller (64) has notched more assists over this period.

In the big picture, Messi has also maintained his keen goal-scoring form over the past couple of seasons. With PSG in all competitions in the ongoing campaign, he has tallied for six goals, which include five in UEFA Champions League play.
PSG sure will need Messi to be a pivotal contributor for the rest of the season.
