Sergio Ramos Discusses Future With the Spain National Team

Paris Saint-Germain defender Sergio Ramos aspires to soon once again feature for the Spanish national team.

Ramos has not played in a fixture with Spain since its 2022 World Cup qualifying fixture against Kosovo earlier in the year. Tendon and calf injuries have ruled him out from taking part in crucial fixtures with Spain as of late.

More so, Spain national team manager Luis Enrique opted not to include Ramos in La Roja’s final squad list for the Euro 2020 tournament.

The PSG defender still aims to once again take part in pivotal features with Spain, which he touched on during a press conference for his new gym in Madrid, Spain.

“I hope to go to the World Cup,” Ramos said. “Obviously the only thing on my mind is to return to play normally and at the highest level. Then Luis Enrique is the one who decides. I would like to return to the national team.”

Spain has multiple center-backs who it has relied on as of late, from Aymeric Laporte to Pau Torres. And as Ramos touched on, Enrique has the say regarding squad selection decisions for the Spanish national team.

For now, Ramos sure is aiming to return to action with PSG in Ligue 1 play.
