Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino has been under fire for the capital club’s performances over the past two weeks.
Following the UEFA Champions League loss to Manchester City, which allowed the Premier League club to win Group A, PSG has put together two less than impressive draws against OGC Nice, and RC Lens have led to criticisms of the Argentine manager to get louder.
However, it seems as though those close to PSG forward Lionel Messi are also sharing concerns on whether Pochettino is the right man for the team. According to L’Equipe (via Foot Mercato), the Messi clan questions Pochettino and his tactics.
Messi’s entourage feels that the 49-year-old does not seem to succeed in establishing good things on the pitch for the squad. The French media outlet adds they have doubts regarding the game plan, which they feel is too restrictive in their eyes.
Pochettino has four more matches left in 2021 before hitting the winter break. The Argentine will need to solidify confidence in the players, management, and entourages to show that he’s the right man for this job.
Les Pairisiens showed last year that they’re not afraid to make a change midway through the season, especially if they can hire former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane.
