Even as he has not yet completed a mere half season with Paris Saint-Germain, midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum is already garnering interest from one La Liga side.
As noted by the Spanish-based outlet Todofichajes, Atletico Madrid is open to making a move for Wijnaldum.
Atletico Madrid is aiming to revamp its midfield depth and views the Dutch international as a player who could help the club achieve this goal.
The report adds that the La Liga side could add Wijnaldum on a loan deal with an option to buy.
As it stands, the Dutch midfielder has not “convinced” PSG’s sports management. Thus, this has brought out not only Atletico Madrid but also some Premier League clubs to express an interest in signing him over next year.
Wijnaldum has so far featured in 21 fixtures in all competitions over the campaign. He has been called upon by PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino to start in several key fixtures as of late, which include the team’s notable 2-0 win over AS Monaco in Ligue 1 play.
Wijnaldum has two more seasons remaining on his current contract deal with PSG.
