Fabrizio Romano Gives Latest on Nuno Mendes Future at PSG

Nuno Mendes arrived on loan from Sporting CP this past summer, and thus far, the 19-year-old has displayed the qualities that could make him the starting left-back for the future.

When Paris Saint-Germain moved for the defender €40-million buy option and Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano reports, all signs indicate that the capital club will indeed exercise that clause in the loan deal.

Romano stated in his tweet that Les Pairisens are super satisfied with Mendes’ performances and potential, which is why they’re seriously planning to sign him on a permanent deal.

The Portuguese international has shown flashes of his potential, but he’s still a teenager, and there are instances where he can display his age. Nonetheless, what Mendes has shown these first few months is enough for PSG to roll the dice on a young defender in the hopes that he reaches his potential.

PSG hopes that Mendes follows in the footsteps of Marquinhos as many know the Ligue 1 side took a gamble on bringing the young Brazilian from AS Roman, and it’s paid off with the 27-year-old being the captain of the squad.
