Paris Saint-Germain came away with a 3-1 victory over FC Nantes to secure the win for the capital club. However, the marquee moment in the match came towards the end of the fixture, with PSG up 2-1.

With the capital club looking to get that third goal to provide a more comfortable lead and that’s where Lionel Messi came in to score his first Ligue 1 goal of his career.

After the match, Nantes manager Antoine Kombouaré spoke to Canal Plus, where he congratulated Messi for scoring his first goal in Ligue 1 and the style in which he scored.

“It has to happen against us, and it’s true that there is the Messi special. He started with a 30-meter run, he cuts, goes inside, and then he winds up the opposite way. There is nothing to do; you just have to say well done and be in admiration,” Kombouaré said.

“It bothers me to say that, but I’m glad it’s happening to him with the PSG colors, then if that can give him the confidence he needs to score and win against Manchester City on Wednesday, I’ll be happy for them.”
