Video: ‘We Had Opportunities’ – Marquinhos Comments on PSG’s Champions League Loss to Manchester City

Paris Saint-Germain appeared to be feeling good about themselves following the Kylian Mbappé goal. However, the capital club would concede two unanswered goals to Manchester City, who came away with a 2-1 victory and the winners of Group A.

After the match, PSG captain Marquinhos spoke to Canal Plus, where he provided his thoughts on the game. The 27-year-old elaborated what went wrong after taking the 1-0 lead in the second half, considering both of the Premier League club’s goals were scored in a similar fashion.

“There are two different strategies in this game. City is a team that controls the game. We must know our strengths. We tried to defend well and have the ball as much as possible. It was a tough game. It is a team that presses very high. It’s a team that plays compact and high,” Marquinhos said.

“We had opportunities, and we did not know how to materialize them. We take goals that we could avoid. We could do better, defend better. It’s the details that make the difference. The two goals are alike; they always do that. We had worked on their way of attacking. We know our strengths, we tried to defend well and have the ball, but this team presses high and plays compact.”
