Former Paris Saint-Germain manager Thomas Tuchel once again referenced his ex-employer during his pre-match press conference with the media on Monday.
The German tactician answered a question regarding being sacked by PSG and only being given a short Chelsea contract. However, Tuchel revealed that he had significant plans for the capital club before being axed on Christmas.
“I don’t know if I need extra motivation. I was not happy to be sacked on Christmas! My mission was not fulfilled. I had big plans to win the Champions League, to win the domestic title again and again. I was hungry, and we were on the way. This was a huge interruption,” Tuchel said.
Despite the ending, Tuchel has cemented himself in the history books at PSG since he’s the first manager to take the French club to a UEFA Champions League appearance.
Nonetheless, it never seemed as though it would’ve worked out as Tuchel was at odds with sporting director Leonardo.
