One of the main storylines heading into Argentina’s upcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying fixture against Uruguay has centered on whether Paris Saint-Germain forward Lionel Messi will feature in the match.
Messi missed PSG’s last two fixtures in all competitions due to his nagging knee and hamstring injuries. Still, the PSG star opted to join Argentina for its November World Cup qualifying schedule.
Messi featured in Argentina’s collective training sessions on both Tuesday and Wednesday.
As noted by the Argentine-based outlet TyC Sports, La Albiceleste manager Lionel Scaloni’s initial plans for the PSG forward centered on either starting him against Uruguay and then subbing him off later in the match, or simply featuring him in the contest as a substitute.
But as Messi has not shown any signs of discomfort with his injury as of late, there could be a possibility that he may go on to take part in the entirety of the fixture.
Argentina is currently set to hold another training session on Thursday, one day before its encounter with Uruguay.
