Lionel Messi is dealing with a hamstring injury resulting in him missing the UEFA Champions League match against RB Leipzig. The Paris Saint-Germain forward was caught in Madrid seeking consultation on the issue.
Argentine media outlet Olé found out that Messi’s trip to the Spanish capital was to treat a muscle problem that he has suffered in the left hamstring.
The report details that the medical consultation in Madrid consisted of applying platelet-rich plasma, a type of medical treatment that seeks to regenerate injured muscle tissue.
The 34-year-old suffered the injury against Lille OSC and left at halftime, and although Les Parisiens commented on the issue regarding Messi’s health, they have yet to put out a timetable for his return.
Messi was called up to the Argentina national team for their two FIFA World Cup qualifying fixtures to face Uruguay and Brazil. It will be interesting to see if he sees anytime on the pitch or remains on the bench for the two matches.
