Paris Saint-Germain wants to reinforce their midfield this January window, and the capital club could be eyeing a target that can establish himself as the starting defensive midfielder.

Last week, a report from O Jogo surfaced that the Ligue 1 side is eyeing Sporting CP midfielder João Palhinha. Now it seems there are some legs to this report. Another Portuguese media outlet, Record, has confirmed that the French giants’ interest in the 26-year-old.

The report details that concrete offers could arrive on the table during the winter transfer window. When it comes to the potential cost of the midfielder, Record indicates that the Portuguese club will never open the dialogue below €40-million. It seems as though Sporting wants a sum in the neighborhood of his release clause, which is €60-million.

As for the player, the report adds that Palhinha is feeling good at Sporting but admits that his medium-term goal is to “make a qualitative leap” to another club as PSG and unnamed Premier League clubs express interest.
