PSG Manager Pochettino Hints at Major Tactical Plans for Ramos

After a notable wait, Paris Saint-Germain defender Sergio Ramos made his first appearance with the French powerhouse this season in the Ligue 1 away clash with AS Saint-Etienne.

Ramos had been out of action for the past months due to a calf injury, but after a lengthy injury rehab process, he was cleared to feature in the fixture against AS Saint-Etienne.

PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino opted to go with a 4-2-3-1 setup in the match, as Ramos tagged along with Marquinhos as the team’s main center-back duo.

However, there is a possibility that the Argentine manager could elect to soon go with a three-at-the-back defensive setup, which he discussed on after the match to Prime Video Sport France.

“It’s always important to be flexible,” Pochettino said. “There are a lot of games to play against different teams that play different systems. Having multiple options … yeah it’s a possibility to think about it and maybe use it in some games.”

The veteran Spanish defender has played in this setup before during his time with Real Madrid. This tactic sure would provide him with notable defensive help in the backline.

PSG’s next fixture will come this week with the home league fixture against OGC Nice on matchday 16.
