Neymar is just coming off of a notable performance for Paris Saint-Germain in its UEFA Champions League return group stage fixture against RB Leipzig.
The Brazilian forward did not come away from the match with a goal contribution, but he did win 10 ground duels and create a pair of goal-scoring chances for teammates during his time on the pitch.
In speaking during a press conference ahead of PSG’s upcoming Ligue 1 away fixture against Bordeaux, manager Mauricio Pochettino took a look back on Neymar’s showing against RB Leipzig and also touched on expectations for the forward’s performances.
“I am satisfied,” Pochettino said. “Not only with him. The commitment and self-sacrifice are there. In the performances, there is always the demand to do better. If you score three times, you want a fourth, for example. That’s part of the requirements. I am very happy with the will shown.
“Today, our results come from our will and our perseverance. That’s not what we expect from PSG. But it gives the basis for the future. Once the form improves, the performances will be there.”
Neymar has so far recorded four goal contributions in all competitions with the Ligue 1 giants this season. He will have an opportunity to snap his recent league goalless streak in PSG’s upcoming matchup with Bordeaux, where he may be slotted into the team’s setup as either a winger or central attacking midfielder.
