Even after Paris Saint-Germain picked up a key Ligue 1 away win over Bordeaux, manager Mauricio Pochettino still sees room for improvement within the team.
PSG notched a 3-2 win against Bordeaux to move to 34 points in 13 league matches played in the season. But as expected, Pochettino believes that there are several areas where the team can polish its play in both the attack and defense, which he detailed on following the match.
“We have to improve in all areas, especially in the pace of play,” Pochettino said. “At times, we have a good rhythm, but we can not maintain it the whole game. We must also know how to increase it. We also need to improve our defensive strength. At 3-0, we can’t just concede two goals at the end.
“We have to increase our level of play at that time to have more peace of mind. We have to be a team capable of maintaining a high rhythm in both phases, offensive and defensive.”
PSG did have multiple keen attacking sequences during its fixture against Bordeaux, but as the Argentine manager touched on, the side allowed two second-half goals.
The November international break has now arrived, but in a few weeks, PSG will return to both Ligue 1 and UEFA Champions League group stage play with must-win matches in both competitions. Much will be expected for PSG to string together all-around dominant performances in these upcoming fixtures.
