Much talk over the recent summer transfer window centered on whether Kylian Mbappe would stay on with Paris Saint-Germain or opt to move to Real Madrid. While he remained with the French side, speculation has ramped up as of late on if he may sign with Real Madrid as a free transfer over next year’s summer window.
For PSG playmaker Angel Di Maria, he well backs Mbappe to stay with the club but is unsure on whether this may come to fruition. During a recent interview with RMC Sport‘s “Rothen s’enflamme” program, Di Maria was asked on whether his PSG teammates have been pushing to convince Mbappe to stay with the team, to which the Argentine provided for one notable answer.
“No, the truth is that it is very personal this kind of matters,” Di Maria said. “Kylian knows what direction he wants to give to his life, to his football career. It is obvious that we would like to tell him that he should stay here, that he should not leave, but these are personal decisions.”
The Argentine also touched on what it has been like to play alongside Mbappe.
“Yes, it’s true that having the chance to play with a player as fast as Kylian is pleasant,” Di Maria said. “We know that whatever pass you put to him in depth he will have it and he can score. It’s really impressive. The connection I have with him is really beautiful and to be able to play with such players is an extraordinary plus.”
For now, Di Maria, Mbappe and the rest of PSG have an eye on their upcoming Ligue 1 home fixture against OGC Nice.
