Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti has garnered much acclaim as of late for his strong performances for club and country. From the standout showings in Euro 2020 to the keen performance in PSG’s recent UEFA Champions League group stage clash against Manchester City, he has been putting out for potent outings in key matches.
New PSG midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum has been impressed with watching Verratti conduct play in the middle of the park for the Ligue 1 giants.
In speaking to FIFA’s official website, Wijnaldum was asked on which players are the top three in world football today, which he proceeded to list the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. More so, he took some time to laud Verratti.
“I now play with Verratti at PSG and he’s phenomenal,” Wijnaldum said. “People won’t say him because his role is not to score lots of goals and get lots of assists, but what he does in training and on the pitch is magnificent.”
PSG sure will continue to count on Verratti in pivotal matches over the remainder of the season, especially in its upcoming four key fixtures in Champions League group stage play.
