Video: Mauricio Pochettino Discusses the Role He Wants Marco Verratti to Often Play

Paris Saint-Germain saw the return of Marco Verratti against Manchester City. Despite only playing 78 minutes and coming off an injury, the Italy international displayed why he’s one of the better midfielders in the world.

At his press conference, Pochettino spoke to the media, where he discussed the role of Marco Verratti in the win over the Premier League side this week. Furthermore, the Argentine tactician stated that it’s a style that he would like to see the 28-year-old play more.

“It is clear that the circumstances have changed since our arrival. I also think that in the position in which Marco played against City, especially against a team that presses very high and that forces the ball to come out cleanly, he is a player who brings a lot in this area and in this first phase,” Pochettino said.

“Offensive revival, with its ability to eliminate opposing pressure. [Verratti] is a player who can adapt to all midfield positions. But I think that’s one of the positions where I would like to see him more or give him the opportunity to play more so that the team can, like against Manchester City, benefit from his qualities.”
