The reigning Ligue 1 champions Lille OSC to the Parc des Princes facing Paris Saint-Germain, and despite not being the entire squad that beat out the capital club for the league crown, Les Dogues put a fight in the French capital.
Lille OSC would open the scoring as the capital club struggled in the first half to produce much offense. However, in the second half, Les Parisiens generated a comeback, scoring two goals in the final 20 minutes of the match for a 2-1 win.
After the victory, manager Mauricio Pochettino provided his thoughts regarding his squad’s performance during his press conference with the media.
“Yes, I think it’s no accident that the team responds this way in the face of adversity. It shows the mentality, the character,” Pochettino said.
“We want to win in the best way, we suffer, but the team does what it has to do when it needs it. It can’t be a coincidence that we’ve won ten out of twelve league games. I am happy with the mentality of the team.”
