Video: ‘I Think the Substitutions’ – Ander Herrera Credits Tactical Changes for PSG’s Victory Over RB Leipzig

Although Paris Saint-Germain opened up scoring against RB Leipzig but faced adversity conceding the following two goals facing a 2-1 deficit. Nonetheless, the capital club would be rescued by Lionel Messi, who scored a brace in the second half versus the German side.

Following the win over Leipzig, midfielder Ander Herrera spoke to PSG TV, where he discussed the minutes where they had to show their mental strength as they were down 2-1 during the match.

“Of course, we suffered too. We knew before the match that it was a very dynamic team, that [Leipzig] needed to win the match because they had zero points,” Herrera said.

“We knew that it is a difficult team to play because it is already the third consecutive season that we are playing against them. So we are happy, but we can improve. We started the match well, the first 20-25 minutes after we lost control of the match a bit; we have to improve on that.”

Herrera also touched on the substitutes and switched in tactics that allowed PSG to tip the scale in their favor.

“After that, I think the substitutions in the second half gave us the energy we needed, we changed the system, it did us good, so we are very happy,” Herrera said.

“I think we deserved the victory overall, but we also have to know that we can do better because we have to control the game for 90 minutes. It’s not always possible, but we have to try. And today, we started well, but after 25 minutes, we lost control.”
