Paris Saint-Germain was tabbed by many ahead of the campaign as one of the top favorites to win the UEFA Champions League competition this season. The French powerhouse has had formidable showings this season that have met the expectations of many, which include the recent home win over Manchester City in Champions League play.
PSG midfielder Ander Herrera is well aware of the expectations that have been placed on the Ligue 1 giants to win the Champions League this season. In speaking to Telefoot, the Spanish midfielder opened up on his outlook for this competition following the key win over Manchester City.
“It’s normal that everyone thinks that PSG will fight for the title in the Champions League but it’s not fair to put pressure on us to win the Champions League,” Herrera said. “It is sure that we have the dream to win it and we will try to do it with certainty, but in the dressing room, in the group or internally, we will not go crazy.”
PSG still has major tests ahead in Champions League group stage play this season, which include the key bouts against Bundesliga powerhouse RB Leipzig and the return matchup against the reigning Premier League champions Manchester City. It will be noteworthy to see on how PSG performs in these upcoming matchups.
