Paris Saint-Germain opened up their UEFA Champions League campaign with a less than stellar performance against Club Brugge. After opening the scoring against the Belgium side, the capital club didn’t impress much after that.

Despite losing the possession battle, Brugge had more total shots with 16 and more shots on target with seven, resulting in a goal. After the 1-1 draw, PSG midfielder Ander Herrera, who scored the lone goal for the Ligue 1 side, spoke to Canal Plus, where he discussed what occurred on the pitch for the capital club.

“We did what it took to win. We did not perform enough to win the match. We missed clear opportunities and that’s why we didn’t win. I think we had control of the match and maybe they got a few chances in the second half,” Herrera said.

“I think we have mastered the game overall. We got some chances but it’s the Champions League. They have a good goalkeeper and we still get a point.”
