Argentina national team manager Lionel Scaloni led the side to Copa America triumph in the 2021 edition of the tournament. After falling short in the 2019 Copa America, Scaloni formulated a key game plan that led to La Albiceleste’s win over Brazil in the 2021 Copa America Final.

New Paris Saint-Germain forward Lionel Messi is much appreciative of what Scaloni has brought so far to the Argentina national team. More so, the PSG star credits the Argentine manager for helping to build a strong bond within the team.

In speaking to the Argentine-based outlet ESPN Argentina (via TyC Sports), Messi lauded Scaloni for his work so far as manager of the Argentina national team.

“He reflects a bit of what we were as a group,” Messi said. “He was one more of us. He has great merit for what he did. He formed the national team, he believed. He took over at a complicated moment for the national team.

“He trusted the players, new players, young players. He always knew what he wanted. We grew little by little. There was a leap, we began to grow as a national team, all his work and that of the coaching staff, giving the boys the confidence to do what they did”.

Scaloni is surely already etched in La Albiceleste history, as he managed the team to Copa America triumph and ended the side’s major international trophy drought.

For now, Scaloni is looking to guide Argentina to a key win over Bolivia on Thursday in 2022 World Cup qualifying action.
