Pochettino Reflects on the Decision to Sign a Contract Extension Deal With PSG

After rumors swirled earlier this year that Mauricio Pochettino was considering leaving Paris Saint-Germain, the Argentine manager wound up instead signing off on a one-year extension deal with the club.

It was not much of a difficult decision for Pochettino to agree to this extension deal. More so, the PSG manager is satisfied to see that the club stands confident in his ability to lead to the team to triumph this upcoming season.

In speaking ahead of PSG’s 2021-2022 Ligue 1 season opener against Troyes AC (via Le10Sport), Pochettino discussed just what it meant to finalize this agreement.

“We just extended our contract a few days ago,” Pochettino said. “This shows that the club believes in us for the next two years. The club and the sporting director think it’s the right thing. We will give everything to help the club achieve our goals by the end of the season.”

PSG comes into the upcoming season with plenty of high expectations, especially as the team failed to win Ligue 1 last season as it instead watched Lille OSC finish at the top of the league standings.

More so, PSG may be on the verge of signing Lionel Messi to a free transfer deal, which would certainly raise the expectations for the team this season.
