Lionel Messi made his grand debut with Paris Saint-Germain during its Ligue 1 away fixture against Reims. Still, he did not feature alongside Neymar and Kylian Mbappe as manager Mauricio Pochettino subbed out the Brazilian for the new PSG forward.
PSG defender Marquinhos is much looking forward to when the team’s coaching staff will roll out Messi, Neymar and Mbappe together on the pitch.
However, the Brazilian defender recognizes that there are other notable talents in PSG’s attack, which he spoke further about following the team’s Ligue 1 away win over Reims.
“Yes, it’s true, it’s a magical attack,” Marquinhos said. “But we must not forget that Di Maria is important and Draxler too when he comes in.
“It’s important to have an effective team with quality. The season is long, and we saw last season that if we want to reach our goals, we need players with quality. We have a really good squad, we just need to work on the automatisms and with the organization of the season we will improve more and more.”
PSG could debut its star-studded attacking trio in its first match following the September international break, which will come in a Ligue 1 home fixture against Clermont Foot.
PSG currently sits in first place in the league standings with a 4-0-0 record. The side has scored a total of 12 goals over its opening four matches of the new league season.
